River Parret Trail: Complete
The River Parrett Trail offers a different type of scenery, strictly speaking outside the West Somerset boundary, but of immense interest and providing an extension to the South West Coast Path by linking with the West Somerset Coast Path.

At approximately 50 miles long it follows the River Parrett from Steart, at the estuary through Bridgwater and the wetlands of the Somerset Levels and Moors. It is a boon to the ardent bird enthusiasts as well as the committed walker but is not over demanding and the whole route can be completed in 3 to 4 days.

For those with a penchant for history, the threads of ‘Alfred the Great 's’ kingdom can be traced along the trail and links with the Celtic Way make it a fascinating experience.
