The Macmillan Way West is a spur to the Macmillan Way branching off at Castle Cary on the Somerset Levels. It joins the Quantock Hills and West Somerset at North Petherton following along the ridge and down to Dunster before climbing again up onto Exmoor, taking you finally onto Barnstaple. Various well known trails criss cross over it and links can be made to almost any part of the South West peninsula and indeed from it's starting point in Boston, a distance of 346 miles. The West branch is 102 miles from Castle Cary to Barnstaple.
There are some beautiful sections on this fully waymarked route over Exmoor and the Quantocks. Walkers attempting the route are encouraged to obtain sponsership to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support
